Thanks for your comment. I agree a price display is necessary if the person is price sensitive. What you are describing is typical behaviour of people who want to be able to get the best value or the best deal. Websites that do not display prices lose business as you say. However, there are people, particularly in the luxury brand sector, who simply do not care about the price. They just want the item, no matter what it costs. Research shows if you show these kind of people the price it puts them off buying as they associate price displays with lower value.

In fact, there is even research that suggests you might be better off not displaying prices at all..!”
Nope, nope, nope and nope.
You have to display a price if you want my business. In the modern online economy, there’s always an alternative supplier for any product. If I have four different sites selling something I want, and only two of them are displaying a price, I will go with the cheapest of those two. The ones without a price get an instant ignore. If I was prepared to talk to people and email or call up shops, I wouldn’t be looking online. By forcing me to call or email you to ask for a quote, you are removing the biggest advantage of online shopping – convenience.
Display a price, clarify the currency and ALWAYS include postage and handling cost’s – or lose my business.

A question, would you sell some products $19.90 or $24.90 if you know that these items can be bought on some shops for $19.90 and $24.90 on some others ?

Are you sure to sell more at $19.90 ? And selling more means more work, so is it worth working more if finally the profit is the same by selling less but at $24.90 ?

Thank you so much for your ideas.

I would agree a lot for the Red/Green notion developed these days. For 29.99 and 30.01, I think people are more oriented towards real things now. 30.01 when realized, would not give a shock(as 29.99 may, due to more difference between 20 and 30 than in 30 and 30)
